Iran Seeks Movement for Nuclear Disarmament: President

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in an interview, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, with Japan's TBS TV channel said that Iran actively seeks establishing the world movement towards nuclear disarmament.

Asked whether Iran is willing to enjoy atomic bomb, President Ahmadinejad said the nuclear bomb is an insult to human being's dignity and logic.

About economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmadinejad said those economic restrictions have had no impact on the country's economy.

Ahmadinejad further said Iran's nuclear activities are perfectly 'peaceful', expressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes in elimination of atomic bombs worldwide.

Iran's President added the country does not need nuclear bombs to achieve its goals.

Asked how much Iran is faithful to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) regulations, Ahmadinejad said the Iranian nation is interested in the world nations at large, including the American people.

Iran is worried about the Americans due to the existence of the nuclear arsenals in their country, Ahmadinejad said.

About bilateral cooperation between Iran and North Korea, the Iranian President said Tehran enjoys political relations with that country and has got no problem with it.

Asked whether there is any nuclear cooperation between Tehran and Pyongyang, Ahmadinejad replied that there is no need to have such cooperation, because nuclear energy in Iran is completely civilian.

Answering the question about conditions of talks, Ahmadinejad said the talks should be held in a fair atmosphere to the extent that the two sides should be in an equal position and no side must impose anything on the other.

The Iranian President further added the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been ready for holding talks.

Stressing that relations among world states should be based on justice, Ahmadinejad said the United States is unfortunately seeking to impose its will on other nations.

About bomb blast in Mahabad in the northwestern Iranian Province of West Azarbaijan, Iran's President said the terrorist attacks have increased in the region, some of them being sponsored by the US.

The US, today, supports the Zionist regime which possesses atom bomb, President Ahmadinejad said adding that if a country was against nuclear bombs, it should eliminate for the first such bombs owned by itself.

Talking about the report on the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) Iran report, Ahmadinejad said the report had two aspects including the legal and political ones.

Further, he said the IAEA, on the basis of its legal report, announced no diversion in Iran's program from the NPT regulations, adding that the Agency, under the US pressure, made some false claims against the country.

If the IAEA reports are given according to the political motivations, they will not be valid, the Iranian President noted.

About Iran's talks with the Group 5+1, Ahmadinejad said the grounds for holding the talks have been prepared almost perfectly, expressing that the talks must be on the basis of justice and mutual interest.

At the end, President Ahmadinejad said world today is in need of new interactions and relations in which Iran and Japan are capable of playing an active role.

Ahmadinejad along with his entourage have been in New York, the US, since September 19 to address the 2010 UN General Assembly session that was held on Thursday.
