Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton: ABM System in Europe Directed Against Iranian Threat

U.S. President Barack Obama said that he informed Russian authorities of the fact that lessening Iran's commitment to nuclear weapons will reduce the need for a missile defence system in Europe. However, he denied some mass media reports stating that the U.S. Administration offered Moscow "some sort of quid pro quo."

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton repeated that the plans to deploy the ABM system in Europe, vehemently opposed by Russia, are aimed at Iran posing a nuclear threat. She also noted that the U.S. Administration is still determined not to allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.
