Vladimir Orlov
Founder and director of the Center for Policy Studies (PIR-Center)
Vladimir Orlov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1990 and has a PhD in Political Science.
He is the director and chief editor of the journal Security Index, director of the European Security Program of the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) and president of the Centre russe d'etudes politiques in Geneva.
Orlov is a correspondent, political observer, department head, vice president and member of the Board of Directors of the Moscow News newspaper.
He is a member of the Russian Pugwash Committee under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Monterey Non-proliferation Strategy Group and the Governing Board of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), as well as chairman of the Trialogue Club.
Orlov is an expert on the Russian Federation's international security and foreign policy. His research interests include modern challenges to international security: nuclear non-proliferation and terrorism employing components of weapons of mass destruction. Among the topics of his scientific and research work and practical developments are the evaluation of Russia's weapons of mass destruction non-proliferation policy, recommendations for Russia regarding the Iranian nuclear program, agenda issues of the G8 meeting in St. Petersburg in 2006 and perspectives for U.S.-Russian dialogue on the key issues of international security.
