Trevor Findlay
Dr Trevor Findlay holds the William and Jeanie Barton Chair in International Affairs at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University. He is a Professor at NPSIA and Director of the Canadian Centre for Treaty Compliance. In addition he is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, Ontario, where he directs its global nuclear governance project. Dr Findlay has a BA Honours degree in political science from the University of Melbourne and a Masters degree and PhD in international relations from the Australian National University (ANU). He served for thirteen years in the Australian diplomatic service. This was followed by several academic appointments at the ANU’s Peace Research Centre, directorship of the peacekeeping and regional security project at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in Sweden and seven years as Executive Director of the London-based non-governmental organization, the Verification Research, Training and Information Centre (VERTIC).
He is the author and editor of several books, including Nuclear Dynamite: the Peaceful Nuclear Explosions Fiasco (Brassey’s Australia, Sydney, 1990); Cambodia: the legacy and lessons of UNTAC (Oxford University Press, Oxford, 1995) and The Use of Force in UN Peace Operations (Oxford University Press, Oxford, 2002). His forthcoming book, to be published by Routledge UK in 2010 is on the future of nuclear energy and its implications for global governance.
