Alexei Arbatov

Ph.D. in history, 1982. Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2003. 

1976 - 1983 - Research fellow at the Institute for International Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 

1983 - 1985 - Section head at the Institute for International Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 

1985 - 1994 - Department head at the Institute for International Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 

1997 - Consultant to the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Head of the Centre for International Security, Institute for World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), Russian Academy of Sciences. 

Academician and professor of the Academy of Defence, Security and Police by the President of Russia, 2003. 

Member of the Russian Parliament (State Duma), member of the YABLOKO faction and Deputy Chairman of the Duma Defence Committee, 1994-2003. 

Member of the Research Council of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Head of the School board of the Foundation for the families of the 76th airborne division's servicemen.  

Member of the Governing Board of SIPRI and International advisory board of Geneva DCAF Institute and of the Center on non-proliferation of Monterey Institute.Member of the Russian Council for Foreign and Defence policy.
